ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET BUILT TO SUCCEED

A dynamic senior structural engineer with 18+ years of experience, Tiago has a solid background in structural assessment and strengthening of existing constructions, built heritage protection, and urban rehabilitation. Tiago´s career started in 2003 as a civil engineer supervising the Metro do Porto railway system, an important strategic project for the region. In 2005, he joined the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP) as a structural engineer and researcher, participating in several projects involving structural assessment of existing constructions.

In 2011 he co-founded NCREP - Consultancy in Rehabilitation of Built Heritage, Ltd., a spin-off of FEUP that develops structural assessment, rehabilitation projects, and monitoring of existing constructions. At NCREP, as a Managing Partner, alongside his partners and a young talented team, Tiago transformed the consultancy company into a national reference in the built heritage sector. Among the projects carried out by NCREP, it´s important to highlight the rehabilitation of Muralha de Óbidos, Supremo Tribunal de Justiça and Aqueduto das Águas Livres, along with a World Bank project concerning the seismic analysis of Bhutan´s traditional constructions.

Tiago is also an invited Professor at Portuguese Catholic University, for the Master Course on Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Items, with occasional invitations to lecture at other institutions. Within his activity at NCREP and as a member of the research groups COST Actions FP1101 and FP1402, he is the author of several publications, particularly in the field of rehabilitation of existing constructions.

Through his endeavours, Tiago developed a solid leadership style while managing high-performance teams and relevant negotiation skills. In his playtime, Tiago enjoys being with his family and friends and takes every opportunity to travel to meet different cultures.
