Sara Amaral | The Executive MBA
A ENGINEER FUELED BY A SENSE OF PURPOSE AND COMMITMENT
Sara is a dynamic person focused on business sustainability, with a deep concern for helping others and a wide range of professional skills, such as project management, investment analysis, and business strategy.
As an Environmental Engineer with a mission to improve basic services in developing countries, Sara kicked off her career as a consultant for a project promoted by Asian Development Bank that defined the urban water sector roadmap for Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. To further understand the challenges that developing countries embrace, she moved to India as a volunteer in rural project development for two months. Later on, she worked as a consultant for a long-term water supply and sanitation investment plan in Mozambique, leveraging her previously acquired knowledge.
In 2013, she shifted from the water & sanitation industry to the oil & gas, by joining Galp as a trainee of the Exploration and Production department. After just one year, she took part in a group responsible for the company's local operations in Maputo, Luanda, and Rio de Janeiro while simultaneously working as a volunteer with homeless people to find her balance. After three years as a project engineer, Sara was invited, by the CFO, to join the Planning and Control team as a financial analyst. Her technical background and critical thinking, supported by deep teamwork ethics, were fundamental to the success of this transition and brought significant improvements to the interface of technical and financial teams.
Sara challenges the status quo by understanding the reasons behind the standards and contributing to optimizing processes.
