A DREAM HUNTER READY TO FLY FOR NEW CHALLENGES

João is a hunter for challenges, always ready to accept a new flight in his career. With a degree in Tourism, Events Management branch, he believes he can bring value to any company in his area of expertise, thanks to a professional career in the aviation industry, as a flight attendant.

João worked for 6 years for commercial and charter companies and lived in 5 different European countries. This experience improved his sense of communication and facilitated the learning of several languages. During this period he was promoted to cabin supervisor, a task which gave him a new set of responsibilities. Supervising a team of flight attendants improved his time management skills and ability to delegate tasks. After working at Ryanair for close 5 years, he recognised it was time for a change. The opportunity arose at Titan Airways, a private charter airline to which he moved in 2018. Here, the scope of work was broader and especially distinctive. Uncertainty was the norm, which made him greatly improve his sense of flexibility and adaptation .

The following step would come in 2019, a year which began with a 3-month trip through South East Asia and Australia where he had time to reflect on his new career goals. It was then that he decided to explore a more challenging position. The opportunity materialised at TAP Air Portugal, in the HUB control department. However, while as he adapted to his new role Covid-19 came to change his plans.

This abrupt halt and the lack of options in the job market ended up becoming the disguised opportunity for a new personal investment. That's how he decided to enrol for an MBA. A bit like one of Stephen Hawking's most famous phrases, 'intelligence is the ability to adapt to change'. And this capacity for adaptation is certainly one of João's main qualities.
