Mariana Marques | The Digital MBA
TACKLE CHALLENGING PROJECTS AUTONOMOUSLY
If managing time perfectly were a super-hero trait, Mariana would wear the cape. She has an extraordinary career and has encountered several challenges that she faced head-on with resilience and focus throughout her professional and academic life. Mariana excels in working under pressure, coordinating tasks, and establishing collaborative projects with cross-functional people. She currently has multiple jobs and degrees, which means she must work under pressure and efficiently, planning her schedule.
During her studies in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (2011), she excelled in several subjects, including Physiology, which allowed her to join the Department of Physiology and Surgery after a selection process based on an interview and academic performance. She graduated in August 2017, and in September, she started her Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Sciences at the same department. She started her residency program in January 2019 in Clinical Pathology at São João University Hospital Centre and, in between, did a general residency at the same hospital.
Currently, she works as a Clinical Pathologist at São João University Hospital Centre (3rd year of residency), as a research fellow at the department of surgery and physiology of the faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, and as an instructor in physiology to 1st-year medical students at the same faculty. Furthermore, Mariana did a course on flow cytometry in Geneva 2020, and because she excelled at that, she collaborated with the professor at that university.
In January 2020, Mariana began a postgraduation program at Harvard Medical School (Portugal Clinical Scholars Research Training Program), funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). In November 2020, she decided to enrol in the Digital MBA of the Porto Business School.
This MBA program allowed Mariana to work and establish relationships with people from very different backgrounds, improving and consolidating her ability to work in teams.
